Pepûk kuşu

Languages: TRKUFREN

Pepûk kuşu is a bird figure invested with symbolic meaning in the local memory narratives סביב Pepûk Café and Ömeranlı / Omaro. In this usage, the Pepûk bird refers not only to a natural living creature, but also to a cultural sign representing belonging, place-based memory, and the bond between past and future. The direct association of the name Pepûk with the image of a bird in local discourse opens a symbolic field in the town’s memory where nature and social identity come into contact.

In the texts and visual shares formed around Pepûk, this figure is associated with observation, remembrance, and the feeling of return. In previously published Pepûk texts, the Pepûk bird has also been described as “an observer moving between the past and the future”; for this reason, the bird figure is regarded as one of the founding symbols both in the world of associations surrounding Omaro and in the cultural identity of Pepûk.
