Lorîk is the ninni form sung in Kurdish music especially by mothers. Its content may be based on social and individual events; however, its main function is to calm the child and put them to sleep.

Lorîks are performed by mothers in an original manner and are transmitted from generation to generation. In this respect, lorîk is not only a type of song, but also a means of oral transmission of cultural heritage. Mothers carry these works into the future through their children.
