Bîrê Dîlan/en
Bîrê Dîlan (Dîlan’s Spring) is a sorrowful narrative produced by Kurdish communities settled in Konya after the Dersim exile, and one that has taken its place in social memory.
According to sources, the story of this legend is as follows:
- Exile and loss: The legend concerns the tragedy experienced by a woman exiled to Konya after the events of Dersim in 1937–1938.
- Loss of the family: During the journey and process of exile, this woman loses her family.
- A spring born from tears: According to the story, a spring formed where the tears of the woman who had lost her family flowed.
This legend is an important example of oral literature symbolizing the exile experience, homesickness, and suffering endured by the Kurds of Central Anatolia.
