Göç hikâyeleri, eski yer adları, aile tarihleri, çalışma yaşamı, gelenekler, yerel anlatılar, çocukluk hatıraları ve toplumsal dönüşümlere ilişkin bilgiler büyük ölçüde sözlü olarak aktarılmaktadır.<br /> <br /> Bu bilgi biçiminin en önemli özelliği aynı zamanda en büyük kırılganlığıdır: Onu taşıyan insanlar kaybedildiğinde, kayıt altına alınmamış bilgi de büyük ölçüde kaybolmaktadır.<br /> <br /> Önümüzdeki yıllar bu açıdan kritik öneme sahiptir. Avrupa göçünün ilk kuşaklarını doğrudan yaşamış insanların sayısı giderek azalmaktadır. Aynı şekilde kasabanın geçmişteki gündelik yaşamını hatırlayan kuşakların sahip olduğu bilgiler de sistematik biçimde belgelenmemektedir.<br /> <br /> Bu nedenle Ömeranlı, yalnızca kültürel etkinliklerin yapılacağı bir yer değil, aynı zamanda kapsamlı bir toplumsal hafıza çalışmasının yürütülebileceği bir araştırma sahasıdır.
